The Thinking Heart
Bruce Peel Special Collections, University of Alberta
Wilfred Watson is a renowned avant garde poet and playwright, who moved to Vancouver Island from England at age 14. The Thinking Heart describes Watson’s life and his development as a writer throughout his career. It is beautifully illustrated with a collection of his letters, notebooks, programs, manuscripts, sketchbooks, and photographs.
Design details such as the typewriter font, the uncoated paper, and the rounded corners of the book mimic the printed materials in Watson’s literary archive.
