What the Oceans Remember
Searching for Belonging and Home

The use of transparent imagery and texture throughout this design becomes a metaphor for the layering of the author’s identity. History, location, movement, and people intertwine to set the stage of her experience and formation. A classic approach to typography supports this account of her past while a colour palette of warm ochres and blues, along with subtle wavy lines, hint at the tropical context and ocean theme of the story. The text design is subtle, poetic, and appropriately ornate, drawing attention to meaningful pauses and figures as they appear, and supporting the integrity of this scholarly work.
